ere are some operational characteristics when using remote start...

HVAC - DATC (Dual Automatic Temperature Control) System

When the remote start feature is used, the climate control system automatically sets certain parameters in an attempt to achieve a comfortable cabin temperature. These parameters are set based on outside air temperature. During remote start, the outside air temperature is continually evaluated and HVAC system behavior can change if the outside air changes between cold, moderate and warm temperatures.

For cold ambient air temperatures as determined by the HVAC module AUTO mode to request heat:

• the airflow mode is set to FLOOR/DEFROST
• the temperature is set to 72° F (22° C)
• the blower speed is set to AUTO
• the air inlet mode is set to AUTO
• the auxiliary electric heater is enabled if needed (diesel only)

For moderate ambient air temperatures as determined by the HVAC module AUTO mode to request heat or cooling:

• the airflow mode is set to the AUTO
• the temperature is set to the last user setting (Temperature setting is limited to 65° F (18° C) minimum and 85° F (29° C) maximum. If the temperature is set above or below that range, it will use the minimum or maximum value.)
• the blower speed is set to the AUTO
• the air inlet mode is set to AUTO
• the auxiliary electric heater is enabled if needed (diesel only)

For warm ambient air temperatures as determined by the HVAC module AUTO mode to request cooling:

• the airflow mode is set to AUTO
• the temperature is set to 72° F (22° C)
• the blower speed is set to AUTO
• the air inlet mode is set to AUTO
• the auxiliary electric heater is not enabled (diesel only)

HVAC - EMTC (Electronic Manual Temperature Control)

When the remote start feature is used, the climate control system automatically sets certain parameters in an attempt to achieve a comfortable cabin temperature. These parameters are set based on outside air temperature. During remote start, the outside air temperature is continually evaluated and HVAC system behavior can change if the outside air changes between cold, moderate and warm temperatures.

For cold ambient air temperatures (below 32° F (0° C)):

• the airflow mode is set to FLOOR/DEFROST.
• the temperature is set to full HOT.
• the blower speed is set to HIGH.
• the air inlet mode is set to fresh air.
• the auxiliary electric heater is enabled if needed (diesel only).

For moderate ambient air temperatures (between 32° F (0° C) and 80° F (27° C)):

• the airflow mode is set to the last user setting.
• the temperature is set to the last user setting.
• the blower speed is set to the last user setting.
• the air inlet mode is set to the last user setting.
• the auxiliary electric heater is enabled if needed (diesel only).

For warm ambient air temperatures (above 80° F (27° C)):

• the airflow mode is set to MAX A/C.
• the temperature is set to full COOL.
• the blower speed is set to HIGH.
• the air inlet mode is set to RECIRC.
• the auxiliary electric heater is not enabled (diesel only).

HVAC - Auxiliary Electric Heater (DATC and EMTC)

The AHCM (Auxiliary Heater Control Module) activates if all of the following conditions are met:

• The ignition switch is in the RUN/START position
• The engine is operating at greater than 500 rpm
• Any ON mode is selected on the HVAC module
• The temperature setpoint is greater than 80% of the highest setting (EMTC only, DATC uses software algorithm based on interior temp and set point)
• The engine coolant temperature is less than 185° F (85° C)
• No alternator faults have been recorded and alternator is not at full capacity

The AHCM deactivates if any of the following conditions are met:

• The ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position
• The engine coolant temperature is greater than 185° F (85° C)
• An alternator fault has been detected or the alternator is fully loaded due to external electrical loads
• The engine is operating at less than 500 rpm
• The auxiliary heat request is NO from the HVAC module (EMTC or DATC)

Seats

When the vehicle is started using the remote start feature, the driver/passenger climate controlled seat activates in full heat mode when the outside temperature is less than 32° F (0° C) and full cool mode when outside temperature is greater than 80° F (27° C).

Mirrors

When the vehicle is started using the remote start feature and the outside temperature is less than 32° F (0° C), the heated mirrors will be activated.

Rear Defroster

When the vehicle is started using the remote start feature and the outside temperature is less than 32° F (0° C), the rear defroster will be activated.
